At last, a contribution

Tue May 19, 2009, 8:55 PM
Hi All,

I'm nervously dipping my toe in the waters with some Apophysis fractals. Nothing like what others have done, but I hope (and am inspired) to ascend the learning curve. What I need to advance more is the knowledge of how to go from Apo output to that very refined look that others seem to obtain. Is it the rendering process? Post-processing in some other program (Ultra-fractal, for example)? Or, do I just need to explore Apo some more? Will I need photoshop to produce the really fine stuff?

It has been great to observe and soak up the visual feast here at DA. This seems like a great place to learn. Suggestions welcome...

  • Mood: Nervous
  • Listening to: nothing
  • Reading: What is Meditation?
  • Watching: Kung Fu
  • Playing: the piano, still
  • Eating: Tasty rice and chicken
  • Drinking: espresso

    Thanks again Laurie.

I am still figuring out how I can contribute: words, sketches, manipulations. I like to mess about with astronomical images, but I'm not sure how copyrights work on those. A lot of the NASA images are public, but would people think it uncool to do manipulations of them? I haven't seen anything like that yet on the site.

Thanks for you helpful and friendly welcome. I'm enjoying being an observer for now, but hope to add stuff in soon.

I can check with my Dad- retire airforce worked on Apollo missions and retired from service to work at NASA- since this was is area. I am sure he might know about some of this.

Some of the photos are general domain- similar to Monet... search to general domain works - where there are no fee's. I have see many manlip on space photos- however you might be able to tell it is from the space programs.

I look forward to seeing what you add. :)

    Regards,

    Laurie
